Just turned Sky Sports News on the tele and it said the new skipper will be named at 3pm.

I personally think it should be Gerrard, as it needs to be someone whose voice will be heard on the pitch and well respected, but mainly as he can drive the team forward. I dont just mean mentally, I also mean by taking control of games, etc.

Terry is a close second for me, and think he'd do a great job. But would just prefer it to be someone who will be more controlling in a game, and a midfielder is always this.

same here. And also think Mc will make the same mistake as Sven and keep playing Gerrard out of position defensively.

Terry isn't that good a defender, but he might be better now he has been named as captain.

Terry has a lot cooler head than Gerrard who tends to get a little too involved sometimes IMO

You need a captain to inspire you, look at the success he's had a liverpool with that mentality, we always look a little too cool (england) when we're struggling.

IMO Terry is the best man for the captaincy, like a younger Terry Butcher

Glad it went to Terry. Gerrard would've been good too, couldn't really go wrong with either player.

Gazza or Ian Wright would make a good coach purely for motivating the players......tactics they can leave to McClaren
