I booked off Tuesday night last week, as need to get my mum to Stoke Hospital for 9am on Wednesday morning... was all fine & dandy then, no worries!
Just been on the phone to the boss now, said I'm working Tuesday night again so after much bickering about me booking it off, he said either I work it or I loose the job...
So I said get a pen & paper, gave him the number of my mums home phone, and stoke hospital, to ring them both NOW to explain why I can no longer have tomorrow night off...
I 'finish' at 7am Wednesday morning, then have to travel to Weaverham (30 miles ish) then to Stoke (50 or 60ish) in the space of 2 hours... how the fuck can I do this in that time, without falling sleep at the wheel after working a full night shift...
Think I'll go in work tomorrow & then close up at 4am and leave a note telling him to get fucked... Or burn the place down 'ala' Adam-D style...

if he agreed to let you have the time off, he cant change his mind. and he needs a good reason to refuse holiday anyway, he cant just say no, its not a valid answer.

If you gave him ample notice (a week or so) and you still have the holiday entitlement to take I would go above his head (manager above him) & put in a complaint, explain the situation & that you cannot make it in!!

Having had a little think about it, if you had the day booked off via verbal agreement, then surely your boss telling you to come into work would be a verbal agreement, thus meaning if your verbal can be broken, so can his. Pretend you never heard him.

More importantly Paul in the last .pdf you can find the following:

Thing is, technically you don't need to have time off to take her thats the issue so i don't know whether or not your employer knows that or it's worth changing how you word why you need it.

well 'without' traffic problems (which I will get from 7am to 9am on the M57/Runcorn Bridge/M6 South) it should take 1hr 25mins... will finish work at 7:15 am so means I can get to stoke with a 'get the fuck in quick' attack picking up mum...
but M6 & Runcorn being what it is, + rush hour traffic, I'm not holding much hope...
I'll see if someone can get in at least an hour earlier for me, hopefully they can...
