Consistenly getting thumped! I know results dont generally matter in pre-season but it doesnt seem to bode too well at present... perhaps Cosmo would care to clear things up for us?

Cosmos response will be...... 'Pre-season doesnt matter, we won it 5 times in Istanbul and we were the best team in the 80s. I think we will push all the way this year....yadda yadda yadda'

pre-season matters, all be it the run out and getting fitness.

The best plaers played in the first half, that finished up 0-0. He then brought on fringe (and worse!) players on like Salif Diao and some younger ones, which is when we conseeded 5.

Still a shocking result and shouldnt happen. But it'll have no effect come the opening game of the season.

Id be the first to say if we played badly (I didnt see the game as wasnt on tele, but Im guessing we did in the second half) as I dont watch the through blinkered glasses.

I wouldnt mentioned the 5 times or the 80's if we lost to anyone...would say we'll still offer the most opposition to Chelsea this year though (esp. if Arsenal sell Cole and Reyes, and Utd dont replace RVN).

Friendlies have 3 main purposes in my eyes, first one being to get back into doing 70-90mins and adjust to new team-mates, second one being to have a look at the young talents coming through or newly bought players, and the third one to get used to playing other styles of football, playing teams from abroad ready for the champions league, to experience the slow build up play as the premiership is faster.

They haven't really lost anything though have they? Apart from the practice match of course. Getting hammered 5-0 in friendlies does teams a lot of good.

Your just assuming they have Walbinho, maybe Gerrard and co. aren't particularly bothered about it as they have limbered up, got a bit more match fitness etc...

I am assuming and you are probably right in that they appreciate the fitness but its never nice to lose.

agreed!

Hence why I couldnt care less aboutt he results. It'll have no effect on the games we play during the season, as long as we are playing to a decent fitness level and getting a few new players gelled into the team I'll be happy.
