Yep thats what I meant, I'd forgotten the early Astra GSi's had the XE lump in, until the ecotec replaced it in '95, Do'h!

will be a nippy little thing with that engine. wont compete directly with the Clio, but it'll destroy the Fiesta, and still be good to use day to day

They will release the Corsa VXR and it will have the 180bhp Meriva VXR engine, there is no more discussion needed because that is what will happen.

Its not aimed at being as fast as the Type-R the Astra is in the same target market as the Type-R and the Astra beats it hands down.

A 180bhp Turbo Corsa will be fun, I should imagine a stage 1 tune will make it 200bhp which in turn will make it as fast as the Clio. A Turbo engine in the Corsa also means lots of tuning potential, different turbos, different maps etc etc.

Probably be a shit load cheaper then clio and type r, and it will also be reliable unlike the clio. the type r i wouldnt class in same class as its larger more focused at astra/megane

Plus beign a turbo itl be tuneable

Guess what, Lotus didn't design the new Corsa chassis and it finally has a torsion bar which means it might actually go round corners

But to Joe Idiotwhoshouldn'tthinkaboutcarsworkever all they can think about is BHP. So using that theory, the Clio is automatically better.

What variables have you used to figure that out?

I would assume the middle of next year. I think thats when the Punto Arbarth is due to be relesed too which is pretty much the same car.

the simple fact that Renault have been setting up small hot hatches longer than Vauxhall also they have been using the torsion bar for ages so lets see if vauxhall's 1st attempt can match up to it

but like i said i will wait and see

Vauxhall didn't design the chassis. The chassis is a new version of the Gamma Platform designed by GM. They have been working on it since 2002.
