Open bonnet, look in top right corner (passenger side), kind of half hidden near the windscreen.

If it's the one that had a clip on lid it's the screenwash, if it'as a screw on lid it's the radiator header tank.

i've just filled it up, but nowt's happening. when i pull the lever it makes a whirring sound, and the lead or hose or whatever it's called is intact.

keep the lever pulled for a few seconds, sometimes it has to pump enough water through to fill up the pipes first if they have been dry for a while.
If nothing still happens then try the rear one (runs off the same pump) if that works then you have a blockage somewhere.

If what Jules said doesnt work, then go to vaux, get new jets (not that expensive), then its a case of popping them outta the bonnet and replacing them with the new ones

its either that, or the air hole at the top of the reservoir cap is blocked, which creates a vaccum an it stops working...

a ghetto way of clearing your jets is get mr muscles sink 'un' blocker and put some water in the reservoir and add about a 1/4 of mr muscles sink 'un' blocker and it will clear in seconds when the lever is pulled
