Involes quite a lot of work for not much gain, especially as you have to change things like the fuel pump from SPI to MPI etc. Go all the way and stick a C20XE in

Why is it not much gain?
from 44/45 bhp to 90?
It shouldn't be too difficult, as lots of people seem to have done a 1.2 8v to a 1.6 16v, and they are the same block as the 1.4.
Speak to Lee Mitchell or Beardy if you want more information.

easier
the wiring is all simple colour for colour matches. just make sure you get the transponder chip and reciever ring from the donor car or the engine wont start
driveshafts from 1.2 will fit the 1.4 g/box, although try to make sure you get a g/box with the same speedo gear (cable or electric)

Well obviously it's got basically double the BHP but for the hassle you might aswell go 1.6 16v at least.

Not if he's 17/18 and can't insure a 1600/2.0
I agree its a lot of hastle, but the solution (to me) would be to buy a 1.4 corsa and sell your current one.

i went from 1.2 8v to 1.6 16v
wouldnt bother going to the 1.4
i know people say 45-90 bhp is a big jump..
but really it isnt!
ive driven several 1.4's and id seriously consider the 1.6 if i were you, if you cant get insure then id wait a year myself!

its not for me its for mrs i already have c20xe in mine
she has owned a 1.6 corsa before to, only reason we have found a 1.2 8v corsa for 450quid of an old lady and just to give it some extra go we could fit 1.4, purely fuel/tax related to is reason for 1.4
