I'm after a job. I applied to about 10-15 places before I went to Florida and all said no for various reasons and I've just had a new idea...

What do you reckon the chances are of a car dealership, (VX, Honda, quite a few round here) letting me clean their cars or do some weekend work? Guna head off to a few tomorrow, although will feel like a bit of a pratt walking in "Hey have you got any jobs for a nearly 18 year old"

Desperate for anything to be honest (and no Luigi, that doesn't include prostitution ) as keeping a thirsty 1.2 on the road isn't cheap and its a matter of weeks before I run out of money totally

if you want to wash cars, try a car supermarket type place

or work at tescos stacking shelves, it pays quite well and the hours can be fairly flexible

I've applied to both the Tescos round here already Rob

I was thinking if I got into washing cars or doing some kinda work for a garage there might be some kinda promotion in the future

If the main dealers dont offer you anything, go to the private ones, and you will need to offer more than just weekends!

I'm doing applied ICT as it was the only thing that remotely appealed to me and leaves my options quite open. Not too sure what I wana do when I'm older, although something to do with cars would be good, and anyway, this is only part time work!

So do you reckon the garages would say yay or nay?

Agreed.

My best advice would be to go to your local council office....say you are studying XYZ in IT....then ask for a part time placement.

Break the law, go to jail for 2 years, when you come out you'll be given a 'fresh start' and a new job.

why would garages say no?
loads of the garages round here have randoms washing cars, they just walked in and asked.... best way to do it, its harder to say no in person than it is by letter/phone

EMA is not a lot, prob enough for a tank of petrol a week if hes lucky, and if Ryans college is anything like the one i studied at, he'd be doing 50 miles a day getting to/from it
