anyone done it before, this is the first time i will be doin at as my 5 year one just ran out. so just got a few questions.

how much does it cost to renew to a 10 year one?

and does it cost more to get it done there an then at a passport office as i need it for 2nd of august?

any help would be gud

thanks for that, gonna try get it sorted 2moro its gonna cost about £77 to get it done within the same week think am gonna go for that.

Be careful with the photos, the rules for accepting photos are now AMAZINGLY more strict than they used to be...

I've already had 3 sets rejected, thankfully by the post-office doing Check & Send rather than waiting for the Passport Office to reject them and send everything back.

Unless they've been updated VERY recently, no passport-photo booths do valid photos any more...

I had my 5 year one renewed to a 10 year one about 2 years ago. I think it was free?

Edit: Just checked, it still is, kind of. If your 5 year passport is a child one, you can get it extended to 10 year adult (so it will have 5 years left) for free.

i got turned away a couple of times at the glasgow office which was a pain - due the background being too light, and "looking up"on the second set - balls!

Took the first set of photos with a "passport approved booth" - no good!

In the end up i had to a same day service at 90 quid!

its £58 now if sent with post office.
i got mine back within a week and they cut down my photos.
costs more if you go to the place yourself for it done. its about £90.

best getting post office to do it they take the photos for you and then atleast you know they are done right

get the post office to check it before it goes ,costs a fiver but worth it as you know its alright then and it cant be sent back.

Pain in the ass passports :mad; I only got mine done about 3 yrs ago so ok for a while

i hated doing mine too. I sent mine off but i sent my small birth certificate off and the buggers sent it back wanting me to send them a full certificate
