just wondering as same basic engine and chassis aint it?
not got a clue about any of them as not my kinda car but wondering why every1 thinks the 106 so good and not the saxo yet go back a few years it was the other way around and the saxo VTS was the one to own for a great handling and nippy wee car
now i know tuning blah blah and ripping out interiors blah blah but im talking comfortable normal standard cars
vts stats according to here- 1997 120 2.6 7.7 22.4 16.1 88
gti stats according to here- 1997 120 3.2 8.2 23.9 16.5 86
parkers stats for vts- 97 1587/4 120 127 7.5 34 14
parkers stats for gti - 96 1587/4 120 128 8.4 33 13
both sites say the 106 has the slower acceleration so whats the diffrences

106 has a better image, because the saxo was offered with free insurance and loads of people (boyracer types) bought them and put neons on them etc
the pug just seems to have a more grown up image (and its got a nicer interior, and looks better outside)

if you crash in a saxo you die. and if you drive more than 100 miles without breaking down in the pug then youre lucky

Not on the VTS is wasnt.
Dont forget as well - the late VTS's had 130bhp
If i wasnt so Vauxhall mad i would consider this route definatly.
Awesome chassis really.
Saxo's can be had for peanuts now.

there is no difference apart from cosmetic they are the exact same underneath
times are slower for the GTI as they were tested differently from the VTS to make the insurance group lower

GTI's were tested with full fuel load and passengers to make them 2 insurance groups lower than the VTS.
EVO's tests brought them out identical.

that still doesn't mean that Saxos have a good image just cos we drive Corsas
I prefer the looks inside and out of the GTi.

now i know thats an attempt at sarcasm......................but
if you crashed in the saxo you have the same chance of surviving as you would in the 106(they were built side by side:lol
also the TU 16v is a very reliable engine

of course it doesnt but he's not talking about aesthetics he's meaning about how you are percieved differently by driving a saxo compared to the 106
thats why i stated that people on here drive corsa's so they obviously dont care what people think anyway so why does it matter if the saxo has an image?

tehy;re exactally the same chassis and everything. as said the 106 gti was tested with full tank and full car to get it one insurance group lower than the vts to make it more appealing.

They're pretty much the same, made by the same company, few of the panels are different, Same chasis. However the interior is different as well as a bit of the styling on the outside. Made on the productioin line next to each other.

Regarding the chassis, peugeot sport designed their own dampers for the 106.

surely not
say an extra 3 people say at 75 kg each = 225kg of extra weight not including the weight of the fuel and they say it will only put on an extra half a second on the 0-60 and quartermile time
kerb weight is meant to be 950kg so that extra would be pushing it to 1200kg my wee cousin has a 206 gti 140bhp model and it really struggles to go anywhere fast with just 3 in it so id hate to see 20 brake less car with an extra person going for it on a standing start as i reckon maybe more like two seconds extra is on the cards

There exactly the same chassis wise, just styled different inside and out, the 106 looks loads better than the saxo IMO and theres less of them about the reason for this is that the VTR came with 2 yrs free insurance and the VTS came with 1.

130BHP was acheived with a manifold modification by citroen, when they got found out they changed it back.
Some 2000 (w) cars are proven 130bhp.

The 130 bhp thing is such rubbish. Its just that these engines often put out more (and sometimes Less) than standard power, hence 140bhp can be achieved with breathing mods.
Theres no difference in the engines, just coincidence that some make more power than others. This topic has been done to death on SSC and PGAC.

VTS looks to similar to the VTR so the boyracers have ruined it.
