i had my corsa with an X14XE then a C20XE, wheels, tyres ans suspension made the differences in handling for me not the engine, for example i ran on 14" 15" and 17" with numourus tyres etc and thats what made the difference

with the same suspension wheel and tyre combinations they handled the same imo

with my xe corsa on carbs running 181bhp i managed to get a 14.2 @ 97mph and that sounds amazing!

overall the xe is gona be more reliable and obviously cost lest to get more power out of!

get broster to let me run his car up the strip and ill get a good time for him to prove that it is bloody quick!

he has a diff right? well ofcourse he does, but an LSD?

a huge amount imo.. my 2.0 was producing 214 bhp, but only managed a 14.4 (although i have no lsd and run on proper road tyres - not sticky ones ) but i only have 143lb/ft torque. plenty of peeps with the sbd 208 kit or similar run 13's.. roughly the same power, but about 30 lb/ft torque more.. a big reason why i have now ditched my kent cams..

With decent tyres (got roadmasters on at the mo :lol this could be very much improved.

Brosters car is capable of so much more (ive driven it :cool) but the donkey cant drive (his own admission)

But the engine life of a 16xe high power is sooooo much less than a 20xe.

You just cant do a decent compairson of the 2 set ups.
Both have pluses and minuses attached to them.

engine life of a high reving 1.6 is not as bad as people make out! mine hasnt had a major issue its done 9k so far since the tbs went on, and they aint been easy miles! and as yet it only looses oil due to a minor oil leak from the rocker cover gasket im too lazy to fix.... seems to live longer than some tb'd c20xe's out there! lol

this is comparing a tb'd x16xe to a td'd c20xe from what i an see

adam, i will happily admit my cars not all about the 1/4 mile, its fast but not as fast as a 200bhp c20xe with tb's, it never will be.... i have 190bhp and 134???lbft, cant remember exact figures!

i have my track day pass thru for my first track day in the corsa for the 7th august, so we shall see how it performs there! if it performs shite ill sell the fucker, then burn whats left and walk home
