So. These are the rankings as of Jul 06. Italy are the World champs, france are runners up, but that isnt reflected in the rankings, why

Hasn't this already been brought up? There was a post recently about why USA were ranked so high. Obviously not going by the above list though!

yes but i thought after the world cup, the positions of the teams would be a bit more of a relection of their place in the WC

But it changes every month, so wouldnt the WC be the priority consideration?

yes but they lost semis in euro 96 on penos, so counted towards there run.

So Brazil could have played some international games in the run up to the WC? Althought that would be reflected in other standings too wouldn't it?

there ranking system is technical.. they ring mark lawrenson and ask him to choose.

Italy have proven themselves to be the best in the world recently by beating what was put in front of them, but are they the best team in the world overall? No, Brazil are.
