sounds just like a car test....
am i right in thinking that in days gone by you could just tick the boxes on your licence application and you'd be licenced to drive whatever?! Years ago....

right, you need a medical first, then send it off to dvla with your application form and your current driving licence.
then you have to do the lgv theroy test and then your allowed to learn how to drive 1.
so far my costs are.
medical £20, should be £110
licence free
theory test £23
4 day course with test £1000
re-test £300
IT AINT CHEAP, TRUST ME.

Perhaps there is a clause in the contract of employment that says if you leave after 6 weeks you pay them back.

I have a mate who learnt on the buses london transport tie you into a 3 year contract and put a clause in the contract in you break it thay can charge you the full cost off the training plus intrest on the costs so anywhere between 2.4-5k you would have to pay em back if you wanted to leave. he left after his 3 years his now diving coaches all over europe on £35k a year plus tips
