a: No, I'm not a hairdresser
b: No, I'm not queer
New car time for me and want to get the old 2 seater out the way before I have a midlife crisis and have to buy another one!
At the mo I fancy the BMW for the badge but budget will allow a TF with a lot less milage, MX is an outsider but they hold their value well.
Looking to spend around £7.5k

MX5 is not the outsider, its the clear winner. only good thing about the Z3 is the badge (if a bmw badge is a good thing) and the MG TF should not even be considered, its a lesson in how not to make a car, never mind a 'sports car'.

if budget can afford it MR2 1.8VVTi roadster, especially if you can find a TRD kitted one.
Better looking then an MX5 imo, just as good handling but 1.8 137bhp bit more pace.

yeah even worse with large engine, a Z3 is basically a vietnam riverboat simulator.

The mroadster is a widely praised car? Very desirable IMO. Be far better buillt than the mazda, and will have a darnsight better interior too.

ah we on to M roadster now? sounds like that would be out of the budget though?
IMO a roadster should be light, chuckable, basic, and give plenty of driver feedback, think a Z3 falls short on a lot of those and gets points on image and posing (amongst the cretins of this world).

It is heavy yes, but the 2.8/3.0 will be plenty power and a similar setup to the mroadster (pariased for its handling IIRC)
Id say its fairly chuckable we had a 1.9 gutless wonder as a courtesey car and it was slow as heck but it was very nimble!
I doubt its image is much anymore tbh as the z4 is where its at and if your into all the image thing u need to own an audi TT a boxter or a mini!
Id definately choose the bm over the other 2 IMO

Mum used to have a 3.0 Z3 and it was a beast, felt like it was gonna take off that thing, I liked it. She also had the smaller engined one before that..errr...1.8 is it? was slow anyway. Depends if you want to just pose or have the grunt there too.
She also got a Z4 after that and she hated it. I must admit, it was so fuckin cramped. You need to be a midget to drive those and make sure you're never in a situation where you need to reverse because it ain't happening

MX5, due to the fact that they are meant to be one of the best 2 seaters around.
Also, turbo conversion would be nice.

MX5 IMO. The MGs have problems with head gaskets going, and it's stupidl expensive to repair given the engine location. Z3 is just an average car with a BMW badge.
