Think the haynes max power book has some info on it in the side rep section

EDIT: I believe its something to do with fumes of some sort, possibly petrol

It does something with emissions I think.

Just checked the haynes/max power book - its for fuel tank fumes. It should not be removed but if needs be it can be moved to the front of the wing using some fuel pipe to extend the current pipe and new brackets
