... don't go together too well.
All week I have been after a re-gas for the air con in the GSi. Went today to find they still had no gas, so asked of another local one which did it which they gave me directions to.
Got there to be told there was a queue of 2 & would be a 2 1/2 hour wait. At most it takes 30 mins to re-gas, i pointed this out & he said yeah 30-45 mins. So at worst 2 x 45 mins does not = 2 1/2 hours 
So I gave up and came home.
Will have to try again next week now

go to a little backstreet garage. it'll be cheaper, and take less time. when i had mine done, it took 30 mins and cost me 15 quid.

I dont really trust this..
It's not just a case of adding "new gas"
The system should be fully vacummed out first, re oiled and then re gassed..
It depends on the system, how much gas is in there and how often the system is used to the amount of time it takes...
