Hi all,

I'm looking for a new car some time around crimbo/march time. Will have around 12/13k which has to include insurance (18 with 2 years NCB). Also really want to be a brand new car (and don't wanna hear anything about it being a rip off!)

Also, gotta be bigger than a corsa/polo/fiesta etc. and not bad on fuel. Was thinking of:
- Astra 1.4 (could have a 1.4 base model but depreciates like a stone)
- Golf 1.4 but would be really pushing on price as they are 12k alone and a bit common than....
- Leon 1.6

I really like the new leon shape (despite looking exactly the same as the rest of the SEAT cars).

Thoughts?

Think you would be better off going for a smaller car with a 1.4 or a 1.6 cos those cars you listed above with small engines will probably be gutless!

My Dad has a 1.4 Astra to use to go to work and its good on fuel but it has no power! My 1.2 is just as fast

Be better off with something like a new VW Polo Sport 1.6 if you can afford it.

Yeh I would say Lupo GTi too!

How have you got 2 years NCB when you're 18? Did you take out a policy on a car at 16 or something?

will be 2 years NCB in december when i'm 19.....

not really keen on the smaller cars though. need something a little bigger for work. maybe the ibiza diesel tho i'm still really taken with the leon. anyone driven the 1.6 version? whats it like?

can't stand the new civic though - like something out of startrek lol!
