Just FYI - quote: The two-minute silence will be observed across the country, including the Wimbledon tennis championships and at other events.
Still have people calling up to work though.... morons - fair enough if they dont know

how many people die every hour from being in the wrong place at the wrong time, innocent people. Do we remember them too?
I just think its shocking that things like this get more coverage and longer silences than wars etc.

No i dont think i would, if i had been killed i also wouldnt want the country to stop and remember i would want people to move on. Im not saying forget im saying just move on.
It all just makes racism worse tbh its like lets remember when the coloureds killed the white people, its anever ending cycle.
Anyway thats my opinion, not going to ruin this thread anymore

If you lost someone you would rememer them all the time why set out a specific 2 minutes?

just about sums your views up I guess.
Did it ever occur to you that by remembering those that were killed relatives and friends can start to come to terms with their loss?
I don't know what I'd do if I lose a member of my family, I'd be beside myself and full of emotion. I'd want to remember and pay tribute to them as well.
And it's two minutes, the country doesn't exactly "stop" does it. Nothing wrong with a little respect.

its just a sign of respect full stop.
im sure families of those killed would appreciate people taking the time to show respect, but if you didnt do it tis up to you
Edit: as above

its sad that people died but what makes the deaths of these people warrant a 2 minutes silence when people are dying left and right every minute and dont get any 'special treatment'....its only because it was in the public eye that people feel obliged IMO...i.e. 9/11, Dunblane, Holly and Jessica etc etc
