How soon can you renew you MOT? Is it a month and they stamp it for a year after it expires?

If it fails can you still drive it until the expiry or has it got to be fixed straight away?

If it fails then the car is un-roadworthy, however, you could be done for driving an un-roadworthy car even with a current MOT. The new computerised system makes it easier for hte Police to know whats tested and whats not.
