was going to work this morning down my road at 20-30mph when i heard a bang and i lost drive the car also shot across the road.

on investigation i found two of the tie bar bolts had snapped and the driveshaft had been pulled out i absolutly couldnt be late for work so i had to lock it at the side of the road, which i have never done because it cant lock as i havent had the central locking fitted yet. so i had to break a window.

it also looks like the n/s wing, qaurter and door need painting where i was trying to get in

So the doors can't be locked. Why did you break the window?

basically, he has no locks on the outside to get in the car, but he wasn't going to leave it unlocked so he locked it from the inside and the only way of getting back in was breaking a window, i think

As did I owning a Nova with the same problem, although I do have remote central locking.

How did that tie bar come away from the crossmember like that?

Oh yeah Adam how much does your bonnet move at say 70mph? I think mine has started moving a fair bit, now I'm can't remember how much it moved before to judge if its got worse or not.

unlucky on the damage from breaking in. Pushing out the rear window is far easier!

TBH tho, wtf did you expect with the bedge tiebar mod? You HAVE to extend the bracket so that the top bolt holds it in line. This means the two bottom bolts act in shear only, whereas yours had a bending moment applied to them under acceleration!

A friend of mine has a de-locked Nova with a broken alarm. When he drives it he uses a piece of coat hanger to get in

Yes i think that has been left out and the tie bars brakets just lowered down letting the bolts take all the twisting forces forwards and back on them.

Not surprised they broke TBH.
