i might just drill holes in the plate
apparently the best coolant temp for a high performance N/A engine is 85 degrees. most x16xe's run between 92 and 95 degrees in my experience. lower coolant temps = higher compression according to an article I read in PPC magazine

you can get them from courtney from what i know, about £26 for the privilage
they had them at PVS last year, didnt check this year tho...

the spring is designed/worked to contract at a specific temperature, hence why when you hold it in a pan of boiling water, they open by themselves

that will cause problems with the warm-up map as its on tb's and omex management. it will run rich for a long time until it warms up.

some good info on there
spoke to SBD today and they sell a cool running stat that opens at 72 degrees. but they want 30+vat. LMF do one for £40 that opens at 85 degrees and it includes the housing. ill probably get that one.
apparently an ideal running temp on these engines is 70-85 degrees according to SBD (when modified for higher performance and mapped to match)

the SBD one would be the better option Dave, it will start to open at 72, and be fully open at about 79-80. the LMF one wont be much different to the standard one really

thats what I thought but my fan runs constantly now and didnt want it to run too cool. plus the sbd one isnt straightforward as you need to modify the housing for it to fit.

fighting for the next few bhp hu lol!
mine runs cold when moving.....never had issues with it over heating or getting hot at all, apart from when i forgot to plug in my standard fan.......
get aan alloy rad and twin 12" fans if your worries about it

nah, not after a few more bhp. already got some big plans in place for 180ish bhp soon
its just that I want it to run a bit cooler. the rad is more than capable of cooling, as is the standard fan. its the thermostst that is crap.
anyone know the temp range of a standard thermostat???
