I only ever leave 100 quid in my current account and transfer all my money to my savings account, if I need it transfer it back again, that way less is spent on impulse buying whilst in town and the hassle of having to withdraw money then puts you off buying anything

even I have more than 1k in my current account at all times - and I'm a student.

I generally transfer things across to savings when my current account goes over about 2k. Then move surplus across to savings.

Right now - 6038.30 in Halifax cash Isa & 2472.34 in current account. Only allowed to stick £3k in the Isa every tax year or I would have the lot in there. Overdraft is £1400....never been on it in my life though!!

Also got another account with a few hundred in for buying myself stuff as & when I see it& a few £k's worth of shares.

Live on the breadline - would I fuck!!

I get paid weekly so it varies during the month depending on what bills go out. Got a £500 o/d but rarely in it, not usually a lot of credit in there neither though, between 0 & £300 most of the time.
Just went a bit o/d today though as have some visa bills to pay & cant go to bank on friday so paid them early
