Was looking through the receipts that came with my car and came across these old dyno papers (from Mid 2004).
The first test is before the velos torque tube inlet manifold was fitted and the second test is after. Thought this might be interesting/useful for some one planning a similar mod.
The cars a 1.4 16v sport and at the time also had:
K&N Ind. Kit
And 'exhausts uk' custom system with cat, sport mid-silencer, and four exits with no back boxes.
(Now has de-restricted air box, and de-cat as well.)
Before inlet fitted:

After inlet fitted:

These are 'at the wheel' figures, but what would the true engine power be? Also might be interesting to compare against mantzel results.

I was running 90bhp at the wheels with cams etc on my 1.4 16v.

2nd graph hasn't peaked!
It only shows to 6000 rpm!
The torque is still flat and hasn't dropped off. Thus peak power would be higher and made over 6000 Rpm - take it to a proper RR.

Or maybe as I said, the graph is shit. and not showing peak power.
Look at the shape of the graph, torque is still flat at 6000 rpm, and power is still rising.
It may make peak power at 6500 + rpm. so graph is not showing it all.

Still definately more than being shown. if limiter is at 6400 - then the graph should at least go to 6500 rpm and show the power peaking there, not at 6000.

thats what the torque tube does though... it moves the peak power much higher up the band.
Thats why you need a 7.5k rpm with them really.... and cams too

how come from 5500 rpm - your wheel power falls, but your engine power rises?
Wheels spinning or something?

t = 5252*bhp/rpm
works out fine..... but it would do
RPM increasing increaser bhp.... but when the torque falls..... ach..
I know what i'm tryuing to say, but cant explain it

dont you feel a engine transplant may be more in order?
the 1400 maybe be quite tunable but its never going to produce anything that exciting, how old are you? would it effect insurance majorly to have a swap?

17 and on farm insurance (any driver with the "farms permission", who has a license can drive it), But i think a transplant out of the question-to insure a 1.6 sport they wanted named drivers under 25. I think i can get away with a few more mods tho.

Steve - Jr's 1.4 16v did a 15.4 (I think) 1/4 mile on the strip. That's hardly shabby for a 1.4
plus always the option of later on putting the head on a 1.6 block.

D5's peak with teh Mantzel was at 7519rpm, so we set it at 7500rpm to be a little safe...
Still didn't work, still went bang

So need:
Cams (kent or piper?)
remap + raised rev limiter
Also would one of these be useful?:

where would i buy the idlers and con-rods? Had i ought to get the head ported and polish while im at it. Also would a 4-1 or 4-2-1 be beter overall for this settup, im seriously considering the one in the classifieds and it looks like its gunna go quick.

264 Cams will go in without fettled pistons
4-2-1 is best for you if you want it to keep some torque
metal idlers from http://www.sbdev.co.uk - you'll need to ring them and ask for them, they arent cheap, but they are worth it
arp bolts from them too while your there
headwork is a good idea too.
