now that my leon has been found n is in pretty good shape do i have the choice to take it back or get paid out for it from the insurance company??either way im gonna loose my no claims discount due to the fact the car will need all new locks keys and ecu and any other bits of damage that it has!! id prefer to just get paid out for it but i dont know yet what the insurance company will say! plus stolen n recovered cars are worth alot less and r hard to sell!!???

I wouldnt want it back. Its been sat in, abused, and driven by some horrible car thief. It'd make me feel wierd everytime I drove it.

But if its found in sufficient time & in a repairable condition you might not have a choice is what im saying!!

If that was the case then fair enough. If I had the choice i'd rather the payout.

Of course, wouldnt everybody in those circumstances!! Unless somehow emotionally attached to it
Im about 95% sure he will get it back once its been assessed & deemed repairable. I distantly remember this happening to someone at school, parents car got nicked & found few days later - light body damage, think basically joyriders had broke in took keys, thrashed it about a bit, crashed into something & bailed out, they got it fixed & given back!!

If its not written off it'll be given back.
The insurance aren't gonae be any more out of pocket than they have to.
IMO it'll only be worth pennies now too with being written off before and now stolen.
Although there will no doubt always be people who dodn't mind.

iirc stolen/recovered (Cat D) only applies if the insurance have paid out & the car is found afterwards. The insurance company now own the car thus classing it as a cat D stolen/recovered write off & selling it on to recoup some money!!
If its found straight away & fixed its not tracable that its been nicked!!
I think thats how it works anyway
