Hopefully they will keep them off motorways although it's good they are doing things to stop speeding in residential areas

That made me laugh though...it's as if they're doing it just because it's better for the environment

they are a fucking joke
like K2 HOY says, they have them round my way, and theres a few bits of road where its a 50 limit.
the problem is, you spend more time looking at the speedo, than you do at the road, just to make sure you dont creep over the speed limit for a fraction of a second.
dangerous IMO

Having speed bumps, or actual proper camara's would be much better and more useful

It's not hard to keep your speed to 20 in a 20 limit, as you're going so slow you can notice if you go a few mph over. If they have a 5mph tolerance then they are a good idea, although Rob I do see your point about watching your speedo more than the road, but you only need to glance at it whereas you need to be constantly watching the road.

they have no tolerance. it takes the time you take to go between a certain distance and works out the average speed over the distance. if you go 2mph over for 400yds, then you have to go 2mph under for 400yds to make up for it.
loads of motoring journos have said the same thing about them, in theory they are good, in practice, they are distracting

also, the cameras i am talking about are in a 50 limit, where its harder to notice 1 or 2 mph.
its just another way of making money

He said because the cameras were intended to be at the entrance and exit of the zone, cars stopping or travelling within the area would not be monitored.
this is also a good point hadnt thought of that
if it was on my road, and i left my house (half way along my road) my speed wouldnt be measured

Has anyone ever been caught by those SPECS cameras? I see lots of drivers just blowing through the roadworks on the M6, makes me wonder if they even work?

I have often thought the same to be honest..
Gaz said once that he or his mate was on the motorway and someone in a large car think it was a BMW was flying past them all and it was a 40 mph limit and one of the camara's flshed at them

What has that got to do with sticking to speed limits
And anyway, it's 33mph
