Personally I'd think about red. I know you're all guna say it's chavvy etc, but it works well on the Cupra R

I'd say black - Wont draw too much attention to themselves (wont be too in your face) but they will look tidy on closer inspection

Just clean them off, wipe down with some meths, then paint with hammershite.

Use some Zinc primer on them otherwise the steel will rust through. Or get them powder coated, then you can paint them whatever colour you like without having to worry about rust, or just leave the powdercoated surface.
