for the past few weeks my car has been cutting out when i have been slowing down for junctions and on friday it was really sluggish didnt have any power when i accelerated and cut out at every junction. i managed to get to work and it cut out again there and then wouldnt start again so got it towed home hasnt started all weekend the RAC told me it was my fuel pump inside the tank so have tried a different one but still wont make any difference has any body got any ideas please

Check the spark plug leads, I was getting this. Get someone to watch the leads where they go into the engine while you turn it over, and you might see a spark (be better in the dark). If you see a spark you need to change the leads

spark plugs are fine all my valves are fine we have checked everyfing we can think of but still not starting

When i took ot to vauxhall they said to change the coolent temp sensor, but it still happened after i did it

I think its the Mass Air Flow sensor

Lamda sensor is another possibility

its a 1.4 16v could it be something else other than a fuel problem? petrol is getting to the engine

if petrol is getting to the engine i'd say its gonna be one of the sensors or plugs/leads

try checking the rubber joint between upper and lower inlets, it splits

I took the K&N inductions kit of mine when i changed the starter motor and put it back on and it not really cut out since soo i dont know its alright for now

Mine had its days though m8 wen it didnt cut out. if it starts again go for a new MAP sensor

any engine management light on?

most of the answers above are pure guesswork, thats all it will ever be when you ask this type of question over the internet. a faulty sensor is likely to be the cause but could be any one, if theres no management light on then get it onto a diagnostic computer and check the values from each sensor is within the parameters of 'normal' operation.

dont just buy sensors because people on here are taking a wild guess that they think they know whats wrong.

update on car its still not started !!!! been 3weeks now and still sat on ramps on my drive have checked almost everything now thinking it could be the immobiliser as someone has told me
