am thinking of hiring one for a long weekend or a week 
will this be cool? plenty of pubs by riversides
might sail into reading thats what i'm sure about, routes etc 
anyone know anything about them?

Canal boats?
Brother did it with his mates last year said it was fcuking wicked, hard work on the locks though if theres a lot of them

i have done it once before, was about 14 tho
was good fun, should be better with 5-6 of us and lots of beer, tweed etc

i looked into this for my 21st on the norfolk broads mate
was £500 for 14 berth boat for a long weekend
problem was theres a 2k deposit on them!
So driving while pissed up isnt an option!
Would be good fun though as theres heaps of waterside pubs

Ive done this a couple of times.....me and the ex boss used to run the inland waterways association festivals.
TBH the boating itself is pretty boring. Chugging along at 4mph and waiting for anglers to get their lines out is a bit tedious.
The locks are fun, esp the really deep ones and they aren't that hard work.
Best bet is to plan a route with as many pubs as possible....throw in a day with a good run on the boat, trying to work in some long tunnels too
