my humble corsa is bein polished as i write this,it will be at pvs looking fresh.after goin to mk in chris c's rappid 2.0 corsa my next plan is to do a 2.0 conversion.im goin to be diffrent and get a ecotec out of a vectra (X2.0xev) 134 bhp,but with a re-map and a ram air + manifold i should keep up with most xe's.im goin yo strip the rear (seats, speakers, sub+amp) and fill the front with a set of sparco buckets + steering wheel.what you reckon?tv feature?

No point in trying to be different IMO by using a Vectra engine ......if you're guna be different then you might aswell get a 3 litre V6 Omega engine in. The Vecta engine is too similar to all the other 2 litres

Great little engine. Will have less miles, more reliable, no-where near as commen, and the remap/filter/exhaust combo shold see 140-145bhp (what most XE's are runnign these days anyway ). Valve's arn't as big as the redtop so will never get the ultimate power of the XE< but its still a good 240bhp+ engine when tuned....
Seen people making a reliable 180-200bhp on throttle bodies. Weighs a little less too as the heads smaller.
I'll try to find the report on Ecotec tuning. BRB.... Good read...

I doubt the fact you used a lower power engine with a plastic rocker cover is gonna make your car stand out far enough to be featured.

Hence why you get a redtop and rebuild it!
Personally I'd say the redtop was more reliable as it has less sensors to go wrong, again that's just my opinion.

because on the z20let you cant chop and change looms like you can on xe / let powered cars.
Hnce you need to buy a full car more or less! lol

Other option that no-one seems to consider is the 2.2....
This is the engine the BTCC cars use, just with a shorter stroke (or smaller pistons, can't remember) to make it a 2.0...
150bhp, 145lb ft torque... XE power...
Mates that onto the 1.8 gearbox, most XE's will struggle to keep up....
