Booked myself in to powerflow tomz, they quoted me £330 over the phone for a catless system from the mainifold back (2 1/4")
i asked them for a straight through but told them i didnt want it to loud so he told me its going to be fitted with a middle silencer.
is this about right or should i tell em i just want a rear silencer, thing is i dont want it amazing loud at idle but coming on cam i want a nice roar
(20xe btw)

Well if you don't want it loud then a straight through is no good! Hes right to suggest a silencer.

I thought they were ok provided you specified the correct grade of steel?

but all powerflows are franchises. they all use low grade stainless(ish) steel from south africa that is thin and low grade. Doesnt meet BS for stainless steel.

I think I'm qualified to slate Powerflow!
http://alcoholic.custard.org/exhaust/
That's after just nine months on the car, the lifetime guarantee means nothing (they will only do anything with the exhaust if the rust eats all the way through the metal), the garage refused to fix it, and I lost £450 as a result...
Don't go Powerflow......Blue Flame, however, I have heard very good reports about, and a mate swears by them as they did him a nice custom t304 jobby on his GTi-R.

Powerflow don't know the meaning of quiet. I had a chat to a guy over the phone about one. I kept on saying I wanted it to sound standard and pretty much silent. The guy kept on telling me that it should roar when I floor it otherwise there was no point in fitting the 2.0 enigne. What an idiot.

Dont go to powerflow, mine was deafening and i asked for a quiet one
They were unhelpfull didnt fit it correctly as it kept snapping off its mountings and in the end the new owner (fat_rew) got an exhausts uk one and apparently the old system was rusty IN ONE YEAR!!!

Did you expect anything less? Although I see you are actually using a suitable grade of steel, finally (bit late for mine, though), did you receive too many complaints from people you used 409 for?

The one I use in Redhill is superb, they done my Corsa exhaust and it lasted after a average of 50 miles a day in the 2 years I had it on there, all weathers. And they done my Nova one, the fit is superb and its still as shiny as the day I got it.

mines ok.
originally done by sts or rts tyres in surrey somewhere, had it changed to fit the xe by Aylesbury.
the Surrey part snapped at a weld pipe-box, but Aylesbury were happy to repair it gratis.
Not seen the state it's in at the moment, but the original system is three years old and there's no holes in it.
