its because of that lad who was killed at school the other week, people think its cool to do it, it SHOULD die down in a little while... BUT, its still fucking shocking. 50+ over a weekend, what a horrible statistic

I think its only been in the news so much since the lads/lads of previous weeks.
I'd say we just never really hear of it, since the above they've come up with the idea of recording every stabbing.
But still shoot.

Disgraceful. The thing is, although no one deserves it, the people getting stabbed are the people least deserving of it - e.g that guy that was featured on the news who is now "fighting for life" after helping out a girl who was being attacked.

Knives have always been part of gang culture over here. Read our knives for the yanks guns.
The only difference is that its easier to get caught these days on CCTV...stabbings happen, always have done. There will always been some brain dead loons that will carry a knife.

what probably happened is people took in their 4" flicknife and left it there, but walked out with a 6" curved blade fishing knife

there has been a steady increase in the amount of stabbings recently in the uk, and the amnesty seems to have come when its at its worse. thing that alarms me is the amount of samuri sword attacks there have been recently latest stab death was just over 7 hours ago in bristol http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/bristol/5031636.stm

Dad worked for the police when they had a knife amnesty a while back, and it's not the crims giving them in, utterly pointless exercise in all fairness.
Same with gun amnesties, mostly old people getting rid of their old WW2 service pistols.
