Right here are the progress pics for SteveW's car. The reason why I say it's probably the best is the because of the prep work we're putting into it. It's rare to see people take the whole car down to bare metal for a colour change, but we decided to. Enough chit chat, here are the pics:

Day 2

Day 3

Obligatory mincing pics

dna23 - They are pics from a previous project done in my workshop.

mav - it's bloody hard work so we havea called it a day. More pics tomorrow. We have another 8 - 10 hours of prep work, then we will be primering it tomorrow evening.

broster - etch primer tomorrow evening

Everyone else - it's going flat black. The aim is to get it flawless and shiney as fuck. It's going to be amazing if we pull it off...

We are aiming to get it done for PVS. There is a hell of a lot of work to do though

You need to etch prime the bare metal before priming the car with the normal stuff.

n.b. Saying the paint job is the best is only my opinion, so please take note before starting to cry or argue with me...

We have a painter coming to do the spraying for us, along with helping out with some of the prep work. Steve and I have some good friends who are remarkably helpful

Thats some work taking all that paint off i'd say!?

The bare metal job if done correct should eliminate the chances of rust coming through for alot longer than if just sanding down the existing paint on spraying over this?

Plus if you want a really good show finish to your paint, id imagine a bare metal jobby will be miles better. Should get a nice flat a fook, show shine finish with the right laquer as well.

X 6ORSA - Bare metal gets rid of the existing rust, over spray, orange peel and other crap. (The blue and white job had a few bodged bits on it). The other thing is it gets the body panels super smooth, which means no ripples. Also, there should be no sinkage which is good because we don't have an oven to bake the paint and force it to sink. All very important things when painting a car high gloss black. I think the plan of action with the laqure is to put on a few extra coats to get it really mirror shiney.

rob - No Thundercats I'm afraid.

Lost my 10mm socket so I can't take the door handles off til I find it

Rear windows don't need to be removed according to the guy who's doing the painting as they are bonded in.
