Just asked a mate about it and he came up with a corker about something similiar......

He says.... " If you were in a lift that was detatched and falling to the ground, if you jumped up just before it hit the ground, you'd be ok, wouldn't you?"

they tested this on mythbusters...you still die! You end up hitting the top of the lift with so much force it kills you...then you still hit the bottom with enough force to kill you twice!!
