Coming home from the filming yest, just left London did a fair few miles before getting onto the M1, when suddenly my bonnet thought it would come and say hello
Lucky with the outcome really...................:
Smashed screen as you can see below (had to drive 36 junctions - 180ish miles with no wiper in the pissin down rain)
Damaged scuttle but easy repair,
dinted roof but luckily can be left and not realy noticed
bent wiper arm and lost smooth wiper arm cover - would have been worse, the bonnet luckily survived

Was a stupid fault - the guys asked me to open my bonnet for the shoot so i did, left them with the keys while i went off for my interview, when i had finished they had finished and driven the car out of the studio so like an idiot it all looked ok, but wasnt locked which i didnt think to check at the time. drove about 20 miles or so and it was ok but as soon as i got on the motorway it lifted.
Luckily i culd see under the bottom of it so pulled over onto the hard shoulder and tried to force it down but with bent hinges and the scuttle ripped up and stoping the bonnet going down was a pain - sorted though locked it and attempted to drive home, insurance company was closed so couldnt ring for them to sort me a windscreen out there and then

Any chance of maybe claiming the £50 excess off the TV company as it was their fault?
Or did you sign a waiver of some description?

They will say it's your responsibility to check the car before you drive it as it's non standard...

Personally if I had a carbon bonnet I'd prefur to have a bonnet pin at each corner, just cuz I wouldnt trust any mounting points, I have nothing to back it up with, would just personally feel safer that way,
also if I had a lightweight bonnet I would want to be able to easily take it off
