Supposed to be doing an oil change on emmas clio today...

Went halfrauds to get some oil and filter, the oil filter they 'said' was for the car was infact the wrong one i already knew what size it was, but they were convinced they were right (I hate it when I go in, knowing what I want, and they try tell me its something else) so firstly got them to go look at the damn car to see I was right, the gimp didnt know what to say and then had the cheek to say 'thats the wrong one on the engine mr'... fools

So, I now have oil and a filter...

next issue, what the fuck is the sump nut needing to take it off?? Looks like an allen key or torx bit?! GAY!! Why the hell cant they just use a normal bolt like on vaux engines...

Also, the container i thought i could use, has a god damn hole in it, so now i'm routing about to find something else to drain about 3.5litres of oil into which wont leak

new house + no money = fun doing an oil change

ok closer inspection, the bolt is a square, not a hex shape, so is more than likely rounded off on the inside

how the hell can I get this done now??

bloody shit...

no i do have the right tools now, i attacked the shed and grabbed a load!

the inside of the bolt is definately rounded, reason its square, looks like someone smacked something in it to take the old one out & were too lazy to just replace with a new bolt

I know halfords sell some square sump plug removal tools, although not sure on sizes and stuff?
Could try giving them a ring?

90% of new vauxhalls have a T45 torx bolt in the sump
theres the odd diesel with a good old nut
The reno sump bolts are square and require a proper socket to remove them
they are well gay
how much did it cost for oil and filter from halfrauds?
my mates find it cheaper to pay me to do it and get the vauxhall bulk oil
its about 48p a litre and its no rubbish either
costs me under a fiver to change the oil and filter on my turbo so it gets done every 2k or so

Really bugs me these torx bolts. Why the fuck are the so commonly used nowadays, and they round off if you slip a couple of times, then your fucked.

tbh i also have no issue with the torx bolts, grip better too and like said, they dont round off

managed to barter them down to £15.86 for both oil and filter (should of been over £20) but as i'm not paying, i dont care!

usually I also get the vaux stuff at trade price, but thats only back home in northwich as i know the guys at the dealership, but dont know anyone as yet around liverpool

Like he said; the hole was rounded, which is an impressive feat in itself for whoever did that.
