Thought I'd start another thread in here

Where would you go to live and why? And do you think you could deal without your friends and family?

I'd like to but I'd miss my family and friends too much (soppy I know )

I dont think I could even hack living abroad for 6 months just for the experience never mind permanently

My cousin is moving to Cyprus with her Husband next year for at least 3 years as thats where he is going to be based in the Army.

Dont think I could do something like that I think she is going to struggle as she is like me in that she is close to her family and friends...

Only place I would move to would be America. There are alot of bad points to the place (like here) but I really like the country.

Or Id move to Monte Carlo if I was worth millions to save on tax!

But do you think you could manage without friends and family?

I think it might just be me and the school and jobs I've done that makes me partly like I am.

Some mates used to go to boarding school and they are off travelling the world quite alot, others went in the army and one has since moved to Wales. They come back with some amazing pictures and stories. They get used to being away from home from an early age.

Think I have had a sheltered life

My boss's mate moved to Cyprus...he's a painter & decorator & earns a good living over there, easy work aswell cos everyone paints their house....white!!

Said where he lives is great everyone is so friendly, they all grow there own fruit & veg, & exchange with one another!! They leave a table with what they have to sell with a tub to put the money in on the road at the top of their drive....id like to see someone try that here some chav would nick the lot in 10 seconds!!

He has a huge villa with all mod cons & a pool....great lifestyle!!

Wouldnt bother me about not seeing family or friends. I could handle seeing them 3 or 4 times a year TBH.

My on and off gf wanted to move to America to be a nanny over there for some rich people in a couple of years time.

She said would I go with her if she moved and I said yes I would do. Think she is the only person I would consider doing something that crazy for.

Hasn't come up in conversation recently so not sure if she is still keen on it.

I think you need to have something like $1M Dollars for residency visa or another way is a working business visa where you need min $150k to invest in a business & it is reviewed every year!! Its the tightest country to get into...unless you wet back it or marry a yank!!

Or if you have a skill that they have a shortage of. A few years ago plumbers could of got an instand residency visa as they had a big shortage of them.
