just had my coursework mark given back to me
apparently i got 110 out of 120 on my coursework - i asked what this grade would be and i was told it is an A*
i did not think it is possible to get an A* at A level i thought the highest mark was an A
but i was then told that the coursework marks allow an A*
ive tried to look on AQA website but that is not helping me. anyone know? or anyone know of anywhere that does?
thanx for the help

Im doin ICT at AS, are u doin AS or A level at the moment. Surely they just take the C/W mark, add it to the two paper exam marks and then work out ur grade. Im not sure tho cus then there's all the moderation etc. Btw 110 is amazin. I havent got mine back yet, but im expecting 60-80.

i was quite happy with 110 too
i understand that they take them all together at the end, i just asked what the grade was for my c/w alone and was told it was an A* just didnt seem possible to me to get an A* at A level

You can get an A*, but you need 100%, or is 98.9%. It's something rediculous. The way the marks worked seemed very strange when I did them all those years ago

im doing exactly the same course
i believe it would be possible to get an A* coursework grade-
but at the end of the day, all the marks are totalled up to give your final grade
the final grades are A,B,C,D,E,U
ive literally just given in my ICT coursework, what a mission lol
good luck with the exams

thanks
i understood about the overall grade bit and that it didnt matter, i just wasnt sure whether it was possible to get an A* with c/w or not.
i didnt hand mine in too long ago 269 pages
the lack of sleep and hard work has been worth it IMO
good luck with yours too

I plan to do that but i'm doing A-Level Computing which i've heard is a lot more useful. Any recommendations?

I personally had the choice between a-level ICT and AVCE ICT
i chose a-level purely on the basis of clashing courses
if you do decide to do a-level, there is a lot of theory involved

Don't pick computing science in general.
It is not what you thought it was unless you thought it was maths with a bit of computing thrown in.
Seriously have a look at the stuff thats on the net for wherever your looking at the now.

John exactly mate.
I always wanted to do computer science.
Now I have - fuck I wish I had chosen anything other than it! It's the worst, most boring and pointless degree.
you get taught so much hard stuff, that is pointless and you'll never use.
Programming is only a small part of a computer science degree, also probably the only ok part of it.
Do a Software Engineering course instead.
Computer Science goes too technical into crap like the inner workings of CPU's and deep maths etc
Algorithms - shudder.
Plus, everyone else at uni (even people doing law etc) will have half or even less the lectures you do and have half the exams you have.
I have the same amount of time to revise but have to revise for 8 exams in a space of 7 days, where as most of my mates doing other courses have about 3 / 4 exams spread over 10+ days.

Few pages to look at and go - hmm, is this really what I thought computer science would be?
