Had a go at adjusting my brake bias valve tonight.
Let handbrake off and chocked wheels so it didn't run away on me (which was unlikely anyway seen as though it was parked across my drive rather than pointing down it).
Then got under car and slackend nut off a bit. Spring didn't move. Got my Mum to come and sit in the back of the car so I could see how the spring moved.
When she got out I pushed the back of the car up with one hand then tightened the nut up with the spanner in the other hand. Possibly not the best way to do it but it wasn't moving by just slackening the nut off so was the only way I could think to do it 
Took it out and seems to be braking a bit harder on the front but then again I'm not sure if thats just me testing the brakes and wanting to think that its braking better than it was 
Will have to give it a few days and see if I notice any difference...
Gave it a clean aswell but no pics as it looks the same as usual so no point Electric windows getting fitted this weekend hopefully  Think thats all for now 
Oh and drivers side headlight is still misting up after washing it even though I have taken it off the car, dried it out and used some clear silicone sealant around it to stop it from doing it

funky is one way to describe it  I prefer to use fucking dangerous
What concerned me more was that it went through a set of shoes in less than a year and also had new drums

yes it is a bit dangerous tbh got me in a spot of bother a couple of times before but now i hardly drive fast anywhere so its fine

Well I adjusted a spring of some variety
1.2 8v has some different sort bias contraption

my back end was twitchy, so i stripped it.... it was then a lot worse, but it became fun when i got used to it.

my mates is even worse than mine his Corsa is lowered something like 70-80mm and he hasn't adjusted the bias valve and the back end comes out at 30mph when he brakes
Think hes gonna sort it this weekend while he is on with fitting my leccy windows

its a brake compensator
It makes no differnce to the front brakes they brake as hard as you push the pedal
the compensator needs to be quite slack so it can relive some of the pressure going to the rears
thus not allowing them to brake too hard and lock up
If you have gone thru some rear shoes and drums then they have been binding and not adjusted correctly
rear shoes will out last discs and pads on the front by miles
Also the rears wont grab as much if the have had a good clean up
some older cars never get serviced correctly

I'll see what its like over the next few days and if the back end still feels skittish under braking then I'll try to slacken the spring off some more.
Yeah shoes should last for ages. A hell of alot longer than 20k anyway

maybe i should do this on my gsi as the back keeps locking up and goes sideways, scared me the other day my car is not lowered at all, but my abs light is on.

well i've wanted to do it but never really got rouind to it. I would try it after a week and see what happens? I had my brake compensator ajusted once before and its just the same as it was. So rear discs are on the way to help with my pedal feel as well

i remember speaking to you about this fad we both kept going sideways thanks to that little spring
Max Power have a guide for extending it, looks a little complex and overworked but may well work because of that
That said if only 10% is done via the rear (is this correct? ) do we really need it to be there if are front brakes are decent enough? and if we did remove it wud the handbrake still work?

After driving Lee Mitchells Valver with a rear disc conversion I was sold, brakes are so much better than mine and I have rebuilt four pots 
I do belive Lee detatches the spring when he does the conversions and as Corsas are prone to leaky cyls in the drums (which is my problem) a rear disc conversion gets rid of this and aids pedal feel as well, and for not much more than a pair of rear cylinders you cant go wrong
I know the usual argument about a corsa does not need rear dics etc but after driving a corsa with said conversion I feel you cant really comment on the performance untill you try one.
But for you hamster powered boys I would try detatching the spring and see how it goes...actually thinking about it I do belive JR has done this and if you've ever seen the boy brake...its something else

i detached my spring and it made little or no difference, think my actual compensator needs replacing.
Be interested to see how you get along with the disk fad as when I spoke to Henryk at v-tuning he said David's car was worse after having fitted the rear disks.

Well it'l be an overall improovment no doubt as my rear cyls are leaking in my drums so we will see.
My mates rear disc conversion was a bit odd but that was due to the fact it was slightly off so under hard braking it crabbed over the road.

in theory the rear calipers will require a bigger displacement of fluid meaning they should stop the back end locking up
I think the problem with bigger front calipers are that you need to move the pedal futher (due to bigger bore) but the rears come on just as quick as normal
Best solutuion would be a proper pedal box master cylinder and bias valve but i dread to think what that would cost!!
