...McClaren
Not too sure how happy I am with him being named, but he has been part of the set-up for a while now so atleast knows how it all works. Would of preferred someone with a bit more tactical experience at that level though.

I couldnt care less if he was foreign or not, just rather they were the best man for the job with tactical experience at that level. Best he has ever done is this year and that was only due to lucky goals near the end of games!
We shall see!

The men on the pitch are all English, that'll do for me.

I bet he'll prove you all wrong.
He's been boro's most successfull manager.
People keep bring up the losses we have had....7-0 to arsenal 4-0 to villa, this was when the club had just started to field all the youngsters and were still concentrating on cup competitions!!!
People are also forgetting we have defeated chealsea 3-0 arseanl 2-1 and man utd 4-2 this season.
In our first 2 seasons in europe we ahve reached the quarter final and the final.
This season he has lef us to the league cup quarter's and the FA cup semi's, pretty good considering England only ever play in cups.
People should give him a chance, i reckon he'll be a great manager!

this is only 90% true.
Yeah the team should pick itself and that should be good enough to win games. But what about if we are losing or drawing and we need a tactical change, thats when Mc will come into play and Im not too sure he has that ability to know what to do at this level.
And James...all respect to Middlesbrough but you arent a top team and he doesnt have expereicne managing top players.

When I first heard, I thought good, an English manager, but having watched the reports on Sky Sports News this morning, I'm not 100% sure. However, I think he will do ok, he's been involved for a long time, knows the players etc, so we'll see how it goes.

I think he has enough experience with man-management workign with top players:
he worked alongside them all for 4 years as asistant to sven, worked along side fergie for Man Utd.
He currently has, Mendieta, hasslebaink, Viduka, yakubu, Boateng, Southgate.

Yeah he has watched how it is done, no doubt about that. But his first hand expereince is zero.
And Im sorry but none of those are world-class players. Top players some of them maybe, but they arent in the same league as Terry, Beckham, Lampard, Gerrard, Rooney, Owen, etc.
I am hoping he can do a good job, and think he has a good chance of doing it. But just wish we got someone with a bit more experience at international level.

Agreed. With McLaren it'll be all too familiar and I can't see much changing. I doubt Sven actually does much as it is. Needed new everything imo, new head coach, new staff.......
Although that said, i'm going to give the guy a chance because he's on the verge of winning a major European trophy.
Rather McLaren then Curbishley, but then i'd have chosen Allardyce anyway.
