when i went 2 buy my car, the hangle for the bonnet had come off the footwell, so the guy pulled the cable with some pliers, and it opened eventually, but when it came 2 shutting it it just wouldnt go down, he tried about 10 times, with a bit of force 2, and it eventually went down, only for me 2 get home any try to open the bonnet with the pliers again, and it not wanting 2 open. if you stand at the front you can hear the squeeking of the catch moving as you pull it, but it never releases it, it as if it just doesnt move enough.
anyone had this, or know how i could go about solving, before i have 2 get the gas axe out on the bonnet

Try getting someone to push down on the bonnet while you pull the wire/catch

I did this on a Calibra. My mate sat on the bonnet and lent up and down on it while I pulled the cable from inside the car.

If youve only just bought it and it was already like this then you can get the previous owner to fix it for you! ...I think anyway! Im sure when buying a car youve got a fortnight guarantee. You dont wana be stuck with that! nor do you want to have to fork out to get it fixed!

if it was a private sale the previous owner will slam the door in your face. Sold as seen.

grease up the spring and catch as well when its open.
i could pull my bonnet release... but the spring would get stuck so it needed 2 people (one to open it while other pulled cable).
greased it up and its fine now.
