The mad scientist (Ryan G1) kindly ripped out my x14xe 1.4 16v wich had low comp in piston 1 and drank oil so assumed the piston rings were away.

anyhoo he fired a x16xe 1.6 16v in for me. made a crackin job of it too

New Engine before it went in

can hardly tell the difference between 1.4 and 1.6

new one in





Runs a dream and is a shed load quicker than the buggered x14xe

The engines look identical 10 quid says you got them mixed up and still have the 1.4 in yours

check the difference in the inlet manifold

1.6 seems to be more oval shape and 1.4 more circular

bumper is still on, no mats on the wings? do you like your paintwork scratched?

New engine looks good tho

nice work

although would have been a good idea to block the inlet manifold up with a cloth or tape during installation. would have been a major fcuk up if something had fell down there!

i did all mine with the paint 'exposed', i even left the bonnet on. no scratched paint for me, just have to be careful

we did cover it up at one point


didnt scratch anything just a little mark on the wings but polished out.
