Well perhaps not gone but a corsa certainly would not catch a Lupo throught the twisties!!

Never driven an XE corsa, guess the handling probably ranges from abysmal to ok though?
Read plenty of reviews praising the lupos chassis though.
Only way to be sure is to track the 2 i guess?

The Lupo Gti chassis is excellent, In my opinion its one of the best handeling front wheel drive cars about, second to the VW Corrado of course (Used to have one of those and I miss it so much!) Like I said its the closest thing to the Mk1 GTI!!!!

Really? Surprised by that, what with the 106 having crappy torsion bar rear suspension!!

torsion bar setup is good if the surface is flat and dry

I think you need to compare like for like....
A Lupo GTi needs comparing with a new Corsa 1.8 if anything. Probably not a lot in it, although the Lupo is going to be more fun due to its chuckability
Dynamically, they are far superior to "any" older Corsa. 10ish yrs newer design for starters, hence why they would keep a bigger engined Corsa honest on a track & twisties.....it aint all about BHP
My mk2 Golf with circa 200BHP will humble Impreza STi's, Cossies & the like.. Maybe these 2L 16v Corsas would like to have a play with my car on track. Think the Golf would prove how dynamically inferior the old Corsa is

So you guys are sad enough to sign up on here to defend the Lupo when there wasn't really anything to defend them for as most people have said they like them...

Well the point i think we are trying to make is a 2L 16v Corsa SHOULD pull away in a straight-line. Hardly worth posting really.
150+BHP from a Red top XE....
Compare a Lupo to the equivalent Corsa & its a different story though....

Maybe 1020-1040 kgs
Koni Coilovers & Brembo 4 pots with 304mm 2 piece discs & Pagid Blue race pads..25/28 Neuspeed, H&R ARB set up
Quaife ATB diff. 2L 16v motor with flowed head, 4 branch, Supersprint Gp.A system, Schrick cams, Jenvey throttle bodies & DTA management. Circa 200ishBHP@ 7300rpm & 150lbs/ft
Not your average 16v mk2 Golf with a 2L block

most of the XE corsas on here dont even compare to that. AKs might be intresting tho.

white one lower down the page. Similar power, lighter, but less work on the suspension i think.

Flywheel....
Less than a similar spec'd XE. The red tops are a corking motor
A red top with similar work would be a good 15-20BHP up on the VW. Better engine put simply
200BHP in a mk2 is enough for good fun though (even though 15-20mpg means i dont use it too much now)
