I have wondered this for many years. Why do all Volvo drivers have their headlights on during the day? Is it some weird cult following or is it the car that automatically leaves the lights on whenever the engine is on?
Don't think I've ever seen a volvo without it's lights on (unless it's parked).

Automatic thing, partly because Sweden is in darkness for long periods of the year.

Seems silly that the UK cars have this. I laugh when I see cars with their headlights on during the bright sunshine!

DRL's Day running lights...and it is the Headlights that are on not sidelights, I turn mine to sidelights during the day..
Overseas cars you can turn them off by doing something with the headlights switch, in Britain as far as I believe and been told you can't..
Unsure how to turn the DRL's off in uk spec cars...
it annoys me though ..

TBH, i think its a good idea, it does no harm having extra light in the day time, and even at night, you couldnt forget to turn them on, which is a bonus

Like has been said it's because of Sweedish law.
It can be easily converted though.
