im thinking of getting myself a set of dumbbells, and one of the sit up crunch machine.
I am looking for anything to build your pecs up other than press-ups?
i play football alot, so the cardio bit is fine, just looking to tone up more with weights etc.
Just wondering what everyone else has got to work out at home (Cheap things not big machines)

just get free standing weights and a decent bench. Will be cheaper than most manchines and better for you aswell.

I'd get jut a run of the mill bench for that, maybe an inclined bench and some free weights too.
But also....have you not cosidered joining a gym? I found when i tried to train at home i didnt have the motivation to push my self to the limit
But everyone is different i suppose.

have joined gym loads of times, and its quite dear at 35 quid a month.
so getting own weights etc, i can do some every other morning when i get up.
so is press ups on a bench the best for pecs? i used to use a pec deck at gym, dead good, but they are too dear to buy,

free weights...
start by being able to do push-ups (flat and declined) with your own body weight, then get somebody to put some weight on your back and work your way up
You can still do dips

get a bench with adjustable incline and rack for a barbell so you can do flat and incline bench press. sit on the other end of the bench and do flyes with dumbells. Thats enough for chest.
for abdominal work you dont need a crunch bench/machine just do floor work, or go for a decent exercise ball and do some research on ab exercises.

get a chin-up bar that goes on the door frame, they are good for building upper body strength.

Don't get machines, get free moving things, dumbbells, barbells etc with a bench.
