Out of interest (and if anyone knows) how many litres/miles can you get out of your car once the red petrol light turns on? It would be handy to know in an emergency The car in question is a 1.2 Corsa C

depends how your driving, road conditions, type of roads, etc.

I wouldnt bank on more than 10miles, although it could easily be more, just in case!!

I got a C12NZ, its main power is its ability to run on petrol fumes alone.

The C has a light that comes on, then starts flashing when you're running on fumes.
I've never found out what the actual figures are either though.

On a related matter, vaux fuel gauges have to be some of the most innacurate ever.

Isn't that where the feed is though? From the bottom of the tank? I wouldn't know, I've no mechanical experience. Anyway I've worked it out to be about 3 litres left in the tank. Its not by any means accurate, but its around that figure.

Also i agree with the innacurate petrol gauge. I had a full tank, and did over 160 motorway miles, and by the end of the journey i had a 3 quarter tank left. Made exactly the same journey back, and ended up with half the tank gone, which left it to just over a quarter. Then i drove the day after, and the gauge went back up to half.

Doesnt matter what revs you're doing, fuel consumption depends on how far you've got the accelerator pedal down.
