Conversation with the girlfriend just happened, she works in the Healthcare Department at a Cat. A prison.
As the Healthcare department is part the the Primary Care Trust you would assume they are being affected by the massive cuts the government are making to the NHS as a whole across the country? People across the county in the NHS are being asked to voluntary leave and being laid off.
But not in the prison! they are actually allowed to advertise for MORE jobs as its seen as a priority.
Within our area Podiatrists are being forced to close through lack of government funding as are NHS dentists and other services,
YET
A prisoner can apply to see a podiatrist or dentist and is seen within 2 weeks!!! how come a person who has comitted a serious crime, evn murder have all the benefits of effectively private healthcare yet people on the outside have to suffer?
It cost the country £30, 000 to house one prisoner per year
country sucks, priorities are all wrong

also, in addition to your points, the NHS needs more money, not less
when i was trying to get a doctors appointment recently, it took me 3 days to get one
I have private health insurance, and even that didnt fasttrack me to a more appropriate slot

i was in a cat d prison for about 21 months and i have to agree fully with what steves says. it is an absolute disgrace what you can get in there, opticians all the time with no delay and glasses bought for you. doctors and specialists for absolutely anything at all, and all at a moments notice. and the dentist comes in weekly into prisons and just sees who is ever there instead of it taking months to find an opening, and thats if you are lucky to find a dentist to join with the nhs. saying that a load of lads in there had manky teeth from being smack heads for years. it was even easier just to see a normal doctor than it is outside of prison. we even had physios coming in to see lads when they would not even help themselves, it was just money going down the drain all of the time for anything and everything. but prisoners in there ask for everything and anthing and get a hell of a lot of it, doesnt seem to be many people who will say no as they start shouting about human rights bull shoot.
it is not just the health in there either, it is absolutely everything, prisons and prisoners do have it way to easy imo

nothing can be more fucked up then giving people the incentive to have more children as you get more money for sitting on your arse doing nothing just cause you have a kid then actually going to work

how exactly would unions change the prison system, and stop the nanny/benifit state we live in?
and yes it seems people who dont work and have kids get more cash than people who actually try to achive something in life.

im not saying they would change it but when maggie broke them we became a mindless workforce who were scared to stand up for our rights

Steve as per usual i totally agree on your opinion but, the whole country can be improved so unless you are going to take poisitive action and attempt to do somthing then stop moaning.
You have a right to your opinion, so does everyone but if everyone realised that if we all clubbed together and tried to take a positive step in changing it then we might actually achieve somthing instead of becoming a nation of moaners!

yeah but unions were mainly concerned with industrial action, pay, working conditions, hours spent working ect, with the ammount of working law we have today i dont think there is as much for the unions to fight for.
the main problem with the country is bennifts ect left wing politics.
weather the unions had the same power they used to wouldnt make that much of a difference.

This is true, but i think what steve is trying to say is that they shouldnt get better healthcare than the people who havent commited a crime.
