Ok, just need some advice for a friend who recently bough a house

She keeps getting letters for the previous owner, previous owner now only lives up the road so being the lovely lady that she is she has been passing the post on.

Its been 2 months now and she is still getting letters, even thou previous owner told her she had put a redirect thingy on (even thou mail is still arriving in her name)

So, my friend, is getting abit pissed off with acting like a postal worker.

Yesterday she accidentally opened one of the letters to find it was an acceptance letter for a credit card, for the previous owner at her address.

My friend would like to know where she stands, surely this what the previous owner is doing is illegal?

Previous owner had money troubles as my friend had the baliffs knock once.

PS - My friends name is Sally

Help needed

er im sure it classes as fraud using some one elses address to get accepted for credit, dont quote me on it though.

you can ring the police see what they say or phone the credit company up but doubt they will do any thing, just get your friend to say to the person they accidently opened the mail and read what was inside and would like to know whats happening.

Stop passing on the mail and the person will be forced into changing addresses.

She has stopped passing the mail on. She also telephoned the credit company and explained and they have agreed to send no mail to her address

She is just worried what else she has passed on

Will get her to call the police on her lunch break, i think shes just worried because opening someone elses post is illegal... she thinks anyway

I get loads of mail for the couple who used to live there drives me mad! I end up putting a lot of it in the bin

The already told the post office to redirect the mail and they're clearly not. Not our fault.

genuine mistake, if she has a bunch of post all adressed to her, and one odd letter for someone else, its understandable how she opened it by mistake

Right best thing to do is this...........

Something which i have done with junk mail which works....

I kept getting letters from mailing companies and i kept asking them to take me off their mailing list and they didnt.

If you send something "return to sender" they are invoiced by WEIGHT.... so all you need to do is attach a copy of the yellow pages...

This will piss the company off into not sending her anymore mail.

Job done.

Just had this problem at my house. A woman who hasn't lived there for four years hasn't paid her Dotty P's bill. (opened her mail) This was a red letter, stating that the bailiffs will be paying a visit.

I spoke to the credit company, and they said show your passport and mortgage agreement to the bailiff. I told him to fuck off.

I was worried, because she could get my address blacklisted. Police are on the job now. Going to arrest her for fraud

Silly bugger.
