True, but what a waste of a career, although he did win the Premiership with Blackburn I suppose.

He is a geordie and has openelly admitted that he took great pleasure in turning down Fergie, twice , and hasn't regretted one moment of it.
The man is a legend

Footballers generally enjoy playing football. If they don't enjoy playing football, they make it known and genreally move clubs. Shearer made it known that he was enjoying his time playing football at Newcastle and did not move clubs. Where is the waste in that?
At the end of the day, football is a sport and is played for enjoyment. There's no waste if you're enjoying yourself.

He was good but in his 'old' age he's lost his touch IMO.

He was class and even with his old age managed to murder Wigan's defence on Saturday. His legs have just about given up but his footballing brain makes up for it most of the time.
