nope, they have to seek pre apporval, although it may have been written into the small print of your contract that you signed granting such permission ???? dig out your staff manual if you have one

Its not that, just a new procedure at work that says that if you have more than 4 instances of sickness in a 3 month period they can write to your GP to see whats wrong with you? Seems like a load of balls if you ask me.

pretty sure they cant due to the whole patient confidentiality thing, unless your work do medicals and you signed to say they can when you first got your contract

Err that made no sense, I signed a contract when we were a different company, we've been taken over 3 times after that and now they have all these new rules which won't apply to me.

I thought this the case, I just think its a scare tactic they are using at the moment due to the high amount of sickness in our office, they obviously have'nt thought this one through throughly enough though (all those words look the same )

Read the contract.

Depends what sort of information they are giving out as well. They could be checking on simply whether you have been there, and not what you went for, which would be seriously nosey.

Just had a word with someone.

Its illegal for the doctor to send the information without your permission.

But if I decline to give my doctor authority to send my details then they can take it to a disciplinary due to me not being co-operative in accordance with the Sickness & blah blah bollocks.
