yes i'm sure you would. For a start you could sell the bits on the 306 and buy yourself a nicer car than a 1.3 escort, so you would be a bit dumb to choose said escort in said hypothetical setting.

explain your theory? Not sure what cosworth engine weights but i'm sure my 1.9diesel trubo is not lightweight and the handling is still immense.

Compared to a corsa. oh and an astra, and a rover gti that cost 30 quid and pulled to the left when braking . And a micra. and a fiat ducato van, high roof long wheel base.
