thats all with good intensions but they dont relise that modifying isnt just about speed its about helping the car and the driver get out of sticky situations,
better handling, harnesses in seats rather then crappy noraml belts, Cages so you dont get crushed
i think they just see the boy racer side of things now-a-days

They dont look at modifications as a good thing they link em straight to kid racers a put an instant downer on things
the more crap rules they bring out the more laws which will be broken

/\ /\ Spot on!
this will be a big deal if it gets passed! its going to cause major problems for the industry on the whole. Not just us that like to modify cars for the fun and enjoyment of driving but also those who restore and rebuild classics and retro cars.
How many MK2 escorts have been brought back to life without a set of billies? or a cage? for example.
And where OE equipment is no longer available? what then?

Correct reclining seats...
So end of fixed-buckets then...
I agree with the TUV-style aproval system, this DVLA one seems more like neo-nazi communist russia style attitude...

lots!
also, it is most likely a ploy by the government/dvla to try get all old rot-boxes off the road, but like the previous sentence, there are ALOT of older cars still on the roads by enthusiasts, and the only way they are on the road is via aftermarket & performance parts

People wont mod cars if that comes in force cos it'll just be easier to have a standard one

The driver shouldnt be in a "sticky" situation anyway if they are using the car as it was intended to by the manufacturer , they spend millions on designing the car , when it leaves the factory it is perfectly safe , its how people choose to drive them is when problems occur.

its not just that.. things like the WRC would not be able to be held in this country, as the cars have to be road legal in order to drive on public roads between stages to the service areas.. alot of car manufacturers also offer upgrades such as lowering etc so cars would have to come back and have standard stuff fitted.. what about hydraulics / airbags? many cars come with hight adjustable air suspension from the factory...
given that arcticle doesnt tell you the ins and outs of it all, but it wont happen..
